Even after almost 40 years of working on these cars, I still find things that I have never noticed before. I was poking around a very original bodied `68 in the shop today and found a factory fix that I have never seen. Now, we all know about the `68 body problems and their tendency to sag at the front hood corners.
This area:

I am sure that they realized they had problems in this area rather early on, and by 69 had installed metal brackets at the end of the header bar.
On this car, serial number in the 25XXX range, the factory cut down two of the fiberglass brackets that are mounted beside the HL openings and glued them to the upper surround. They sawed a notch in the inner fender to allow it to pass through. Anyone else seen this one?
